02/26/2010 - Dudley Brown's Petition - National Association for Gun Rights

Any Congressman or Senator who supports ANY assault on my Second Amendment rights will have broken their oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

He or she, therefore, deserves to be defeated in the next election regardless of political party.

My Second Amendment rights are too important to be affected by any partisan concerns.

Therefore, I DEMAND you vote against ANY assault on my gun rights and do EVERYTHING you can to see that the gun-grabbers agenda is defeated in FULL.

02/23/2010 - National Parks and Second Amendment-Protected Rights

This Monday was the first day concealed carry is now allowed again in national parks. Here are a couple of articles on the subject:

Why We Shouldn't Fear an End to the Ban on Guns In National Parks, by John Lott.

On Monday, firearms will be legal on monument, by Gary Harmon.

02/23/2010 - Partisan Vote Kills State of Emergency Bill

Alert from the NRA/ILA:

Late Wednesday, the Senate State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee defeated Senate Bill 51 on a straight party-line 3-2 vote. Sponsored by State Senator Scott Renfroe (R-13), SB51 would have removed the governor's ability to "suspend or limit the sale, dispensing, or transportation" of firearms during a declared state of emergency. Please contact Senator Renfroe and let him know that Colorado's NRA members appreciate his efforts. He can be contacted via email at scott.renfroe.senate@state.co.us or by phone at 303-866-4451.

01/28/2010 - Your Help Is Needed In Support of BATFE Reform Bills S. 941 And H.R. 2296

Alert from the NRA/ILA:

As we've been reporting for months, Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) have introduced S. 941, the "Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Reform and Firearms Modernization Act" in the U.S. Senate.  Representatives Steve King (R-Iowa) and Zack Space (D-Ohio) have introduced a companion bill-H.R. 2296-in the U.S. House.  The bills would roll back unnecessary restrictions, correct errors, and codify longstanding congressional policies in the firearms arena.  These bipartisan bills are a vital step to modernize and imrove BATFE operations.

Details can be read here.

01/28/2010 - CSU Concealed Carry on Campus

Alert from the NRA/ILA:

Colorado State University Seeking to Outlaw Concealed Carry on Campus
Please Stand-Up and Make Your Voices Heard!

On Wednesday, January 20, Colorado State University (CSU) formally announced their draft proposal to prohibit firearms on all CSU campuses. Exempt from the ban would be weapons used by law enforcement, military and the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). This draft policy will be brought up for consideration at the CSU Board of Governors meeting on Tuesday, February 23. A copy of the draft can be found at http://www.safety.colostate.edu/files/weapons_policy_draft_01_15_10.pdf.

Last year, the CSU Board of Governors drafted the policy knowing that it would violate the Colorado state firearm preemption law and the Colorado Uniform Shall-Issue Concealed Carry Law. Current state law strictly regulates the carry or transport of firearms on schools, colleges and universities.

It is important that Colorado's NRA members voice their concerns to the CSU President that the policy must uphold the Colorado law and allow permit holders to carry concealed for self-defense.

Please contact President Tony Frank TODAY by phone at 970-491-6211 or email presofc@colostate.edu and respectfully urge him to comply with Colorado law.

01/12/2010 - Small Arms Treaty

NRA/ILA: Fresh from its defeat in Brazil, the UN is renewing its efforts to enact additional laws governing the control of firearms by law-abiding citizens.

"U.S. agrees to timetable for UN Gun Ban", National Association for Gun Rights, 1/12/2010.

The United Nations and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are moving forward with their plan to confiscate your guns.

The United States joined 152 other countries in support of the Arms Trade Treaty Resolution, which establishes the dates for the 2012 UN conference intended to attack American sovereignty by stripping Americans of the right to keep and bear arms.

Working groups of anti-gun countries will begin scripting language for the conference this year, creating a blueprint for other countries when they meet at the full conference.

[Excerpt, read more]

Both the NRA and The National Association for Gun Rights have issued info on the UN renewing it's efforts on firearms gun control in the "Small Arms Treaty". However, any such treaty must be approved by the Senate.

You are encouraged to write to your senators urging them to vote against such a treaty should it be pressed into play.

I have already submitted the following e-mail to both Senators:

Dear Senator:

I believe our Constitutional Democracy is an ongoing experiment in self government. Therefore, it must not be taken for granted. Now that we moved well into the 21st Century, we must keep the faith with our Forefathers and Mothers by rededicating ourselves to the defense of constitutional government and ultimately secure our freedoms for all to come.

So, how has it come about that the Obama Administration has announced they would be working with the United Nations to pass a new "Small Arms Treaty"? To ratify such a treaty would likely create an international gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation contrary to the Second Amendment that bears the words "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

This UN "Small Arms Treaty" appears to be a massive GLOBAL gun control scheme, ultimately designed to register, ban, and CONFISCATE firearms from American law-abiding citizens. It likely would ban the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons; and the ratification of this treaty would likely bring forth an international gun registry, thus setting the stage for full-scale gun confiscation.

Respectfully,
Chess Neff

01/12/2010 - New Hampshire Legislators Look to Nullify Federal Gun Laws

Let's see if we can get something like this going in Colorado!

Several states are moving toward asserting the Tenth Amendment--i.e., nullifying federal laws that are outside the powers of the federal government enumerated in the Constitution. This means that such laws would be deemed unenforcible within those states. Lately, the federal laws that would be affected include mainly gun laws and proposed federal control of health care.

New Hampshire is considering the toughest such nullification yet. It would go so far as to prescribe punishment for state and federal government people who attempt to enforce the nullified law. Specifically:

159-E:4 Penalty.

I. Any public servant of the State of New Hampshire as defined in RSA 640:2 that enforces or attempts to enforce a act, order, law, statute, rule or regulation of the government of the United States upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in New Hampshire and that remains within the State of New Hampshire shall be guilty of a class A misdemeanor.

II. Any official, agent, or employee of the government of the United States, or employee of a corporation providing services to the government of the United States that enforces or attempts to enforce a act, order, law, statute, rule or regulation of the government of the United States upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in New Hampshire and that remains within the State of New Hampshire shall be guilty of a class B felony.

08/19/2009 - Governor Ritter's Gun Tax

From Rocky Mountain Gun Owners:

To sign our petition against Ritter's Gun Tax, go here:

http://www.rmgo.org/petitions/ritterguntax.html

Though this idea has been rejected by both Republican and Democrat controlled legislatures, Ritter now claims it will bring $500 million to state coffers.

"The Governor's office is using estimates for firearms purchases based on recent purchase numbers, and it highly inflates the number," said the Dudley Brown, the Executive Director of the largest pro-gun organization in Colorado, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners. Since the election of Barack Obama the number of firearms sales have skyrocketed across the nation.

"But even with a smaller number, he's forcing citizens who practice a constitutionally protected right to pay a tax first, much like the old Jim Crow laws," said Brown. "We don't believe gun owners should have to ask permission to buy a firearm in the first place, and we're now supposed to pay for their gun control?"

Colorado uses a "Baby Brady" Registration system system to check purchasers' backgrounds. This puts gun owners in double jeopardy, since they must go through the FBI check as well as that of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. If Colorado's Brady Act was repealed, the FBI would conduct Brady Registration Checks, which wouldn't cost Colorado citizens and would shorten the wait time to 30 seconds -- as opposed to CBI checks, which often take hours.

"Now, Governor Ritter wants to put a tax on that registration as well. He might just as well repeal our State Constitution's protections," said Brown, "since they don't seem to matter to him."

Colorado's Brady Act was passed in 2000 under a Republican-controlled legislature and Governor.

06/11/2009 - Knives at Risk

I know many of you have heard me say "The Second Amendment is not about just guns!" The Second Amendment is the Right to Bear Arms. "Arms" means any and all things that can be used to hurt someone or cause death. An example: if you have a piece of rope about a foot long that you have you have made knots or loops for handles at the end, you could use this to hurt or kill. Therefore, you have a weapon. But more commonly, most of us have guns, knives, bows and etc. we use for fun or tools in variety.

In the article below, it appears this administration is stepping out of bounds once again in order to reduce your rights. Knives are now under attack out of pretext. It is important that you read the following article and go to the article by Doug Ritter of KnifeRights.org, . Once again I also encourage you to go to our web link and sign up so our numbers are strong when we contact the legislators on your behalf. Also, you should go to our Links page and send a message directly to the legislators.

It goes without saying we have rocky road ahead toward insuring our Founding Fathers wisdom prevails. We simply cannot hold back any longer.

05/20/2009 - Carry Permitted in National Parks Passed House

This is news we can use. The Associated Press has commented the bill will be signed by President Obama.

Congress has voted to allow people to carry loaded guns in national parks and wildlife refuges. The House approved the measure, 279-147, on Wednesday, one day after the Senate acted.

See the article at NRA/ILA for details.

05/20/2009 - HR 2401 - No Fly, No Buy List

Are you an "Enemy of the State?" You may be, according to Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy and co-sponsor Steve Israel, who have just introduced a Bill H. R. 2401, to prohibit anyone on the Department of Homeland Security's "No Fly" list from purchasing a gun.

Is there a problem with this? Well, only if you are in a group from five-year-olds to veterans, from non-violent political activists to musicians with patriotic songs, and you have participated in activities such as "Tea Parties" or even possibly written a negative letter to a legislator. "War on Terror" is the pretext to attack your liberties and you may have been added to the list of now over a million people.

It is time that all citizens stand up and stop these attacks on average Americas. Go to our Links page to find information to contact your legislators. Follow this link to learn more about this bill:

05/16/2009 - Governor Ritter Vetos HB 1180

Does anyone remember this?

images/20090516-clipping.jpg

Yesterday, Friday May 15, 2009 Governor Ritter vetoed the common sense gun bill HB 1180. (See the alert below dated 05/08/2009.) HB 1180 passed through the legislature garnering bipartisan support and had received a thumbs up from nineteen Democrats. In the article above, Ritter's spokesman, Evan Dreyer, maintained Governor Ritter to be an advocate for "trying to enhance opportunities for gun owners."

I must say that this, as our Sept. 06 article above indicates, proves Gov. Ritter once again has shown his true colors and how out of touch he is with the common sense values of Colorado and the law-abiding gun owner. He sides with the radical anti-gun lobby and is standing against our Second Amendment rights.

I urge all members to contact the state legislators demanding them to over ride this veto. You will find contact information on our Links page for the state legislators.

05/15/2009 - TAX Imposed on Second Amendment Rights in Florida

The following is an urgent alert from the NRA/ILA. We encourage all members to respond as the NRA has requested, though we do not live in Florida.

URGENT - TAX Imposed on Second Amendment Rights in Florida!

05/14/2009 - H.R. 2324 "Gun Show Loophole Closing Act"

Again and again and over and over the Brady campaign compelled by Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign and introduced through U.S. Representatives Michael Castle (R-Del.) and Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) launched another bill--H.R. 2324--Aiming At Registering Gun Owners And Putting Gun Shows Out Of Business: "Gun Show Loophole Closing Act." Being introduced as a reform, H.R. 2324 would impose dramatic restrictions again aimed at shutting down gun shows.

I urge you to contact your US representatives and ask them to NO vote this bill. You can find all contact information for your representatives on the Links page of our web site.

05/12/2009 - Newsletter Costs, Electronic Distribution

Almost every day, we read or see costs from either the State or the Federal Government increasing.

Stamps now have jumped another two cents making mailing anything to the membership very costly. Because of these increases the PSAC will join with the NRA and most all other gun clubs to post our newsletter, The Lexington and Concord, over the internet as e-mail to those who have given us their e-mail address. We will also place all newsletters on our web site, www.prosecond.org, for any to read or copy. We realize this is not convenient for all; but it is necessary for the PSAC.

If you have a fax and do not have internet access we will be happy to fax the newsletter to your fax number if you provide it.

05/08/2009 - Important Pro-Gun Reform (HB 1180) Heading to the Governor

This past Monday, May 4, the Colorado State House concurred with the Senate version of House Bill 1180. HB 1180 will now go to the desk of the Governor Bill Ritter by next week for his consideration on signing this bill.

This bill was sponsored by State Representative Steve King (R-54), HB 1180 will exempt Colorado concealed handgun permit holders from the background check requirement for the transfer of a firearm.

It is very important for every member, individually, to contact the Governor at (303) 866-2471 and urge him to sign House Bill 1180; or see the Links page for his email contact information.

04/17/2009 - President Obama Announces Support for Firearms Treaty

Below is an excerpt from the NRA. It would be wise for all gun owners to do your calling or writing to your Senators and Congressmen immediately with your opinion.

President Obama Announces Support for Firearms Treaty

During an official visit to Mexico on April 16, President Obama announced his support for Senate ratification of an inter-American treaty on firearms trafficking. In response, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre and NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox issued the following statement:

"The NRA is well aware of the proposed Organization of American States treaty on firearms trafficking, known by its Spanish initials as CIFTA. The NRA monitored the development of this treaty from its earliest days, but contrary to news reports today, the NRA did not 'participate' at the meeting where the treaty was approved.

"The treaty does include language suggesting that it is not intended to restrict 'lawful ownership and use' of firearms. Despite those words, the NRA knows that anti-gun advocates will still try to use this treaty to attack gun ownership in the U.S. Therefore, the NRA will continue to vigorously oppose any international effort to restrict the constitutional rights of law-abiding American gun owners."

04/16/2009 - Shoplifting at Gene Taylor's Sporting Goods

Be advised that with all of the bad publicity and politics against guns that gun owners are now facing, another type threat has begun to rise. Just in the past few days Gene Taylor's Sporting Goods has been shoplifted of a large number of bricks of 22 ammunition during the store hours.

This hurts us all. Sporting goods stores will require more security to watch for shop lifting which will entail higher costs on all of us who shop the stores.

Everyone should keep an eye out in these stores and immediately report any suspicious activities to the store clerks.

Thefts from gun stores and sporting goods merchants will help fuel more legislation to ID the ammunition you purchase and so on. We must all become better stewards of our Second Amendment right.

04/14/2009 - "Shame on all you hunters"

images/20090414-clipping.jpg

It would appear a little education might be necessary.

I would have to guess this person has never seen how cows, pigs, etc. are slaughtered before their meat reaches the grocery store. And furthermore, this person must have never seen how the domestic animals are crowded into trucks for transport with no room to even move for sometimes a couple of days before they reach their destination for slaughter.
